The Oregon coast.
Travel down its length, and every ten miles you’ll see a new type of coastline. Beautiful and dynamic, it’ll stay with you. Whether you just hop out for a quick bit of whale-watching, or stay to bid goodnight over the vastness of the Pacific, you are guaranteed to see something breathtaking.
Living in Corvallis, I’m only an hour from Newport, right in the center of Oregon’s oceanfront. It’s still not close enough. I’ve gone on several excursions, north and south, and I fall in love a little more each time. Yes, at times the traffic sucks on 101, and it may be raining, but it is all worthwhile once you get out there. Each day trip, I face a choice – travel a short distance south to Cape Perpetua, with its old-growth forests on one side, and the splendor of Thor’s Well and the Seal Rocks on the other? North, to the beautiful beaches and lighthouses, eventually the epic Columbia River estuary? Or perhaps somewhere new, some new pocket as of yet unexplored? It’s impossible to find enough time.
The pictures are my poor attempt at capturing all this glory. Enjoy!
